Mark Herndon

Mark Herndon is an American drummer and musician best known for his work with the country band Alabama. Born on June 4, 1955, in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Herndon joined Alabama in 1979, becoming a vital part of the band’s signature sound. Alabama, which blends country with Southern rock and pop influences, achieved massive commercial success throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Herndon contributed to numerous hits, including “Mountain Music,” “Dixieland Delight,” and “If You’re Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band).” The band won multiple awards, including several Country Music Association (CMA) and Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards, solidifying their place in country music history. In addition to his drumming, Herndon has also been involved in songwriting and production. His contributions helped shape the sound and success of Alabama, which is considered one of the most influential country bands of all time.
